The political times demand our unity. BWC is proud to co-sponsor “Together & Free: Rally Against Family Separation" this Saturday, June 30th, as part of a national day of action. We will be marching in a progressive Jewish contingent with Jewish Voice for Peace Boston & IfNotNow Boston, in solidarity with our migrant siblings and against the Muslim Ban.

We will meet up at 10:30, then join the larger group at Boston City Hall at 11 a.m., march together to Boston Common, and the Rally will start on the Common at 12:30 p.m. where there will be a speaking program where we will hear from those impacted and on the ground.

The rally is organized by a coalition of migrant and Muslim organizations, and as predominantly white organizations, JVP-Boston, Boston Workmen's Circle & IfNotNow Boston, we are committed to centering the voices of our migrant and Muslim siblings. If the media approaches you at the rally, please direct them to migrant and Muslim organizers.

March Information from the Organizers:

From the border to Boston and all over the country, families are being torn apart by a government that criminalizes, detains, and deports them. Recently, the Trump administration escalated its racist attacks on immigrants by separating children from their parents at the border and putting them in cages. After public outcry, their “solution” was to keep families together... in detention centers. Jailing families is not a solution.

We know that families belong together and free, but this administration isn’t stopping there. Trump is also keeping people from majority Muslim countries from being reunited with their families in the United States. The Supreme Court just ruled this week to uphold the Muslim Ban.

This goes beyond Trump. Deportation is part of a system that targets and profits off of immigrants and people of color. Now is the time to be clear: this is about putting an end to criminalization, detention, and deportations in our communities. NO ONE should be kept from the place they choose to call home and the people they choose to call family.

Here in Massachusetts, we’re calling on elected officials to protect community members by passing basic protections included in our state budget: YES to due process for detained immigrants, NO to local police acting as ICE agents and asking about immigration status.
