Active Bystander Intervention Training

ISBCC - 100 Malcolm X Blvd, Roxbury, MA 02120

Join the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center, the Boston Workmen’s Circle and True Story Theater (an improvisational troupe) for an afternoon of interfaith connection followed by an interactive workshop based on the theories of Bystander Intervention Training.

Active bystanders (upstanders) are now needed more than ever. At a time when public displays of everyday bigotry are becoming accepted and normalized, it is up to every single one of us to reinforce the idea that racism and bigotry should not be tolerated in our public – and private – spaces.

This workshop will:

  • Train participants on safe and effective ways to intervene

  • Explore feelings and actions involved with being an ally

  • Witness the True Story actors as they embody our experiences

  • Practice scenarios and improvised role play

Coffee, tea and refreshments will be provided. Bring your own bag lunch.

Suggested donation of $10-$20 but all are welcome regardless of ability to pay

Space is limited so an RSVP is required by April 1st!
