“My task is not to debate whether I’m a Jew or not, but to figure out what kind of Jew I am. For me, finding a secular Jewish community with progressive politics fits my version of that identity.”
The Circle Coffeehouse is a night out and a community gathering place wrapped into one. Combining community, politics, and art, coffeehouse audiences and performers feel the kind of charge that creates a special evening.
With 3-4 concerts a year, typically, the line-up features professional artists with a particular focus on music for a better world or Yiddish and Jewish culture -- and sometimes, of course, both.
The Coffeehouse committee is seeking new members - if you are interested in helping to plan and produce interesting musical acts and various performance artists, contact the Boston Workmen's Circle Office (info@circleboston.org).
