As white Jews, Jews of Color, and our non-Jewish allies, we work for racial and economic justice in the BWC community, the Jewish community, and the Boston community at-large.

After launching a successful campaign for racial justice to get the Town of Brookline to pass a resolution adopting the Government Alliance for Racial Equity (GARE), AFREJ will continue to work in coalition with other Brookline activists to ensure that Brookline does the work to implement the GARE process towards racial equity in the town.

In April, in Montgomery, Alabama, the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) opened the National Memorial to Peace and Justice and the Legacy Museum.  The memorial honors 4,400 victims of lynching. The museum traces our nation’s history from enslavement, through convict leasing, racial terrorism and Jim Crow, to mass incarceration.

In celebration of the openings, the EJI hosted a two-day Justice Summit. Speakers included Rep. John Lewis, Rev. William Barber III, Vice President Al Gore, Sen. Corey Booker, and Ava DuVernay.
