"Judaism has never been solely a religion to me. It’s a people, a culture, and a religion, kind of like a state of being. It helps me locate myself in the world."

This course offers an environment for young and/or queer people to get started in learning Yiddish. This class is intended for students who have no prior knowledge of Yiddish or want to refresh their beginner knowledge. We will going over the Yiddish alphabet and start constructing simple sentences. All materials will be provided by the instructor. Every class will feature songs and other media materials to give students a taste of Yiddish culture.
Instructor: Khave Morales. Lina (Khave) Morales started learning Yiddish at the Workmen's Circle and is very excited to be able to sustain the language by teaching it. She was one of the live-in members of the former Boston Yiddish House and has been speaking Yiddish for for five years. Besides Yiddish, she teaches other subjects for a living, including math, statistics, and the history of Israel/Palestine.
The class will be in Jamaica Plain and run for 10 sessions, Sundays 1-2:30pm, beginning March 5th. You will receive the specific address after registering.
