We’re excited to share our plans and progress for the renovation and expansion of our building.  There’s a scale model of proposed changes in our office – stop by and have a look!

 

Why Expand? A Thriving Community Outgrows its Home

With our success as a Center for Jewish Culture and Social Justice, we have outgrown our beloved home on Beacon Street.

We love our beautiful brownstone, and the location can’t be beat. But the largest room holds fewer than 60 people comfortably, and the building is entirely without handicap access. There is no accessible entrance, no wheelchair accessible bathroom, and no elevator. Windows are drafty and classroom walls are barely soundproof.

 

Our Plans

Our plans include:

  • A multi-purpose room that seats over 100
  • Fully accessible facilities for the elderly and those with disabilities
  • Space to house eight Sunday School classrooms, plus space for rehearsals, community meetings and office needs
  • A community lounge, a library and office space

Our Vision

With these changes, we will be:

  • A community gathering place where Jewish culture and progressive values find common ground and mutual inspiration
  • An arts and education center honoring the many expressions of Yiddish, Jewish and progressive culture
  • An address for progressive Jewish identity
  • A resource for all organizations committed to the pursuit of justice
