Our hearts are broken

Our hearts are broken. In the early morning hours of Sunday, June 12th a gunman opened fire at an Orlando gay club Latinx night, killing 50 and injuring an additional 50 more. We mourn with the families of the victims of the Orlando shooting. We mourn with the Latinx community, with the LGBTQ community, with the Muslim community, and with the world.
We reject hate towards any group and reject the attempt to use this horrific attack to place blame on the Muslim community.  We stand strongly against homophobia, transphobia and Islamophobia. We stand FOR love and a world free of prejudice.

We are reminded of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s words,
"Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it."
We cannot fight hate with hate, but with love and with organizing. We recommit ourselves to work towards a besere velt/a better world.
Let's take action together and call for an end to gun violence. However, we know this is not just about gun control. We will continue continue to fight against the systems of oppression that enable this violence to occur. Let's gather together tonight. Join with members of the Boston Workmen's Circle community at 6pm for the Vigil at City Hall. You can donate to the families of the victims here.
With love,
The Boston Workmen's Circle board and staff
