DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE
The Development Associate will work closely with the Executive Director, a professional fundraising consultant, and a volunteer Campaign Committee to complete a capital campaign aimed at funding the building project. Additional development projects include fundraising concerts, the 100 Ways To Get Away Auction, annual appeals, and grant writing.
Responsibilities:
- Foster volunteer participation and build strong relationships with volunteer leadership; organize and monitor volunteer assignments and follow-up; attend regular Campaign Committee and Development Leadership Team meetings and provide follow-up materials, coordination and support.
- Maintain database for tracking donor activity; design and implement systems for tracking next steps for staff and volunteers; help to prioritize donor cultivation and campaign pacing to effectively drive campaign.
- Conduct research to identify additional prospects and develop individual profiles, keep prospect information up-to-date on a continual basis; maintain all campaign files.
- Organize fundraising and cultivation events, as part of a staff/volunteer team, including auction, benefit concerts, and campaign house parties; oversee production of publicity materials and participate in general outreach, one-on-one recruitment, logistics and content.
- Oversee writing and production of fundraising materials and newsletters; produce written solicitations and individual prospect communications; process and acknowledge gifts and pledges, generate thank you letters and other relevant correspondence.
- Identify activities to cultivate new and prospective donors and schedule site visits with prospects and funders; provide support to the solicitation efforts of the Executive Director and volunteers; prepare solicitation packets, meeting and briefing materials; help foster strategic relationships with the funding community.
- Participate in development of campaign strategy and operationalize strategic workplan; help generate organizational buy-in and momentum.
- Schedule includes occasional evening and weekend work.
Qualifications:
- Three to five years fundraising experience.
- Motivation to learn successful fundraising skills.
- A proven track record of effective organizing, project management and volunteer coordination.
- Ability to develop relationships with donors, Board members and volunteers at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent writing, oral and organizational skills, attention to detail and an ability to juggle multiple demands and deadlines.
- Ability to work in a high-paced, small office environment and maintain warm and collegial relationships with staff.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Excel, and demonstrated proficiency using internet research resources required. Knowledge of Access or fundraising databases a plus.
Compensation and Benefits:
